Last month Digital Allies got involved in the National Autistic Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year, World Autism Awareness Week pledging to raise £500.
The National Autistic Society is the leading UK charity for autistic people (including those with Asperger syndrome) and their families. They provide information, support and pioneering services, and campaign for a better world for autistic people.
One person who knows The National Autistic Society very well is Digital Allies Managing Director Steven Parker. “My son was diagnosed with Autism two years ago. It’s challenging living in a world that does not yet understand or fully accept the complexities of this disability.”
On the 29th March, we hosted a fun day at the Evolve Centre, Sunderland. The Digital Allies team dressed to impress in the National Autistic Society colours, pink and purple!
The day was jam-packed full of events as the team threw themselves into raising the money for our pledge. The day started with a bake sale which was a mammoth success with the businesses within the Evolve Centre, selling out of our homemade cupcakes after just half an hour!
We were fortunate enough to have prizes donated to us for our raffle by 21 Hospitality Group who kindly gave away a voucher for a meal for 2 at Cafe 21, The All-In-One Company contributed with a voucher of £120 and Luxe Magazine provided a year’s magazine subscription. Well done to the winners!
Rounding off the day was a games afternoon! Guess Who with the team’s baby photographs provided a lot of entertainment and guess how many eggs in the jar was more competitive than we thought!
We have officially raised our £500 pledge and would like to say thank you to everyone who got involved and supported us! If you’d like to donate, there is still time. Visit our JustGiving page here.
